Indiana Choice Scholarship
Indiana has long been a leader in school choice initiatives that support parents of children in accredited private and parochial schools. There was additional “School Choice” good news that came out of the recently completed session of the Indiana General Assembly. The newest enhancements to school choice in Indiana include the following:
- The income level eligibility for a School Choice Scholarship was increased to 400% of Free/Reduced income requirements (see the eligibility chart below).
- There are no longer any pathway requirements in order for a student to be eligible for a School Choice Scholarship.
- The use of a School Choice Scholarship was expanded to include Kindergarten in addition to the previously allowed expenses for children in grades 1-12.
- The 5-year-old birthdate eligibility for non-public schools was moved to October 1 (same as the public school date).
- The Tax Credit Scholarship (SGO) Program now includes Pre-K expenses at eligible participating non-public schools. St. Charles is a participating school. Students must be at least 4 years old by August 1st. The SGO amount is $500.
- Scholarship is open to new and current St. Charles School Families. Contact Siobhan Dennis at sdennis@stcharlesbloomington.org for more information.
